![]() In August 1999, I started working at Linden Christian School. Initially I spent a lot of time working with Administration creating timetables for both teachers and students along with other administrative duties. Eventually I was looking to do more for the students, so I began life-long learning at Red River College to attain my Certificate in Career/Employment Counselling. Upon completion of my certificate, I felt well equipped to begin advising students regarding post-secondary schooling. Helping students and parents maneuver through the array of career options there are for young people today is a very rewarding career. It is a very complex process, advising students on the course selection process that starts in Grade 9. I have the opportunity to work with these students right through to Grade 12. Along with the course selection process, I also spend time ensuring they have the courses in their timetables that will allow them to either go direct entry into a selected faculty, or have the needed courses to apply into more general programs. A few years ago I started a website specifically for our Linden Christian School students and parents, but I wanted to provide a tool for other school counsellors who are looking for a "One Stop Site" to attain information quickly without having to go through a zillion websites. This website is the result of many hours of bringing post-secondary information to one spot. I hope that students, parents, employment counsellors, and career counsellors are able to utilize this site for job seekers and high school students.
